How to Identify PNC Text Messages and Calls

Beware of Fraudulent Texts

PNC may send you text messages[1] to service your account. The reasons we message you range from PNC Alerts about your account activity to one-time passcodes for additional security and authentication. These text messages are sent from short codes – abbreviated phone numbers that are five- or six-digits-long and are unique to the sender.

PNC uses specific short codes to contact customers for several reasons. Some of the more common short codes you may receive from PNC are provided below.

If you’ve received a suspicious text message that says that it is from PNC, take a screen shot of the suspicious text message on your mobile phone and forward it to
PNC Abuse (abuse@pnc.com).

Scammers are sending text messages from 10-digit phone numbers that look like they come from PNC. Independently verify text messages before clicking the link. Here are some examples of fraudulent texts:

PNC Alerts and Payment Notifications 762265 You will receive communication from this code relating to account activity or changes to your account. This code is used primarily to deliver text message alerts, including those related to Zelle® payments, requests for payments, and security notifications.

This is also your Text Banking number, where you can send short texts to get account information on demand. Text CMD to this number to see your options.
Card Activity Alerts 35515 You will receive communication from this code to notify you of PNC credit or debit card transactions.
Security 76200 & 32858 You will receive one-time passcodes from these codes to access accounts or when you are trying to access sensitive information in Online Banking or the PNC Mobile app.
Customer Care 668439 & 76200 You will receive one-time passcodes from this code when you call the PNC Customer Care Center and we need to verify your identity.

As a reminder, PNC will never call you asking for a one-time passcode, username or password.
Fraud Prevention 94387 You will receive communication from this code asking you to confirm that you made a specific transaction.
Online Purchases 90742 You will receive one-time passcodes from this code when you are making an online purchase and the merchant requests PNC to verify your identity.
Adding a Card 762729 You will receive one-time passcodes from this code when adding a PNC card to a digital wallet or merchant website.
Loan Inquiries 45847 & 79260 You will receive communication from this code to remind you to pay your PNC loan.

Verify PNC Calls

Our PNC automated system may call you to verify activity on your accounts. If our automated system calls to inform you that your credit or debit card is potentially compromised and must be replaced, the callback number is:
