Peg + Cat + Scott Dixon
PNC Bank No. 9 car driver read to pre-K kids at PNC Grow Up Great partner center in Northeast PA.
On Thursday, August 16, pre-K kids delighted in hearing Scott Dixon, the No. 3 Indycar racer of all time, read Peg + Cat: The Race Car Problem. Scott shared this story of how Peg and her sidekick, Cat, built an amazing car out of things they found lying around. They've named her Hot Buttered Lightning, since she's built for speed, and they plan to win the Tallapegga Twenty — if they can make it out of the junkyard. It's a good thing Peg knows the best shape to use to make wheels and how to count laps to see who's ahead. And it's lucky that Cat reminds Peg to keep calm when she's totally freaking out.
Mountain Center House
The opportunity brought together a few PNC initiatives. Scott visited as part of our sponsorship of the PNC Bank No. 9 car owned by Chip Ganassi Racing. The Mountain Center houses a Head Start school run by Pocono Services for Families and Children, which has been a PNC Grow Up Great partner organization since we began our early childhood education initiative in 2004. Approximately 40 students there joined Northeast PA Regional President Pete Danchak and PSFC Executive Director Tim Lee to welcome Scott to the Poconos.

Before the race at Pocono Raceway, Scott Dixon and Tricky, the raceway mascot, stop by The Mountain Center to read Peg + Cat: The Race Car Problem.
Scott and one of the students smile for the camera, while some of the other pre-K kids don't want to miss a minute of quality time with Tricky, named for the raceway's "Tricky Triangle."
