For more than 120 years, The Centers has provided essential services for those who need them most in Cleveland, Ohio. Now, due in part to assistance from PNC Multifamily Capital, The Centers is poised to have an even greater impact through new and renovated facilities.

The Centers provides individuals and families with integrated health and wellness services, including primary care, behavioral health care, addiction services, Harm Reduction Services including HIV/Hepatitis C, in-house pharmacies, and dental care. They also offer family support programs such as early childhood development, career training, and job placement. They also offer family support programs such as early childhood development, career training and job placement. The organization is one of the oldest and largest nonprofit organizations in Northeast Ohio and serves more than 20,000 people annually.

PNC Multifamily Capital is engaged with The Centers on three vital projects that will help The Centers provide health and human services in the community. The Centers’ Cleveland Christian Home Child Wellness Campus is one of those initiatives. It underscores the unwavering commitment to the children and families in the community, driven by a moral imperative to ensure the safety, well-being, and future of children. This project expands the emergency childcare center, enabling The Centers to offer comprehensive physical, mental, and behavioral health services for youth involved with the Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Around 1,200 children are expected to come through the facility for placement and reunification annually. The residential treatment center will provide intensive therapeutic services for children between the ages of 6 and 17 whose experiences of trauma, abuse, and neglect make it difficult for them to live and cope in a family environment or foster care. PNC invested $1.8 million in New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) equity through a PNC Multifamily Capital fund to the renovated facility, while PNC Commercial Banking group provided loan financing.

“The individuals served by The Centers are among the most vulnerable in our community, and being able to accommodate them in new spaces that can meet their specific needs is essential,” PNC Client and Community Relations Director Erin Deimling said. “PNC has been committed to assisting The Centers in their critically important work, not only with these developments, but also through our signature early childhood education initiative, PNC Grow Up Great, through which we provide philanthropic support and volunteerism.”

Through another development, The Centers will begin offering services at a newly renovated, 52,000-square-foot facility on the former Saint Vincent Charity Hospital medical campus in mid-2026. This facility will include primary care and behavioral health services for adolescents and adults.

The Centers are also renovating and expanding their Gordon Square facility, which is a fully integrated campus that provides all service offerings, including mental health and addiction treatment, Harm Reduction Services, Behavioral Health Urgent Care Workforce Development, and Head Start Early Learning services. These developments will be funded in part through NMTCs and federal and state Historic Tax Credits (HTC).

The construction currently underway represents only the latest projects in a well-established pattern of collaboration between The Centers and PNC. “The Centers has an impressive 124-year history of making a difference in Cleveland, and their banking relationship with PNC is nearly as long, dating all the way back to 1928,” said John Nunnery, manager of tax credit originations for PNC Multifamily Capital. “We look forward to many more years of working together to improve the quality of life for families and individuals who need support and resources.”

“What makes the long partnership between The Centers and PNC so meaningful is not just working together on construction developments like these,” said Eric Morse, president and CEO at The Centers. “Through extensive volunteerism and programs like PNC Grow Up Great, PNC has helped The Centers in our efforts to serve thousands of individuals and families. It’s a shared commitment to more than just facilities – together we are making a difference in peoples’ lives across Northeast Ohio.”
