New Campus Brings New Opportunity for KIPP Miami Public School Students

A group of elementary and middle school students in Miami, Florida now has the chance to learn in a brand new, state-of-the-art school building, courtesy of a recently constructed facility.

The new North Miami Campus of KIPP Miami Public Schools opened its doors for the first time in 2023. PNC Bank, N.A., and PNC Capital Markets LLC provided both construction and long-term financing for the 120,000-square-foot, three-story facility, which is located on property leased from Miami Dade College and which will eventually educate more than 1,900 students in grades K-12.

“PNC was thrilled to be involved with the construction of such a worthy project,” said Rob Dailey, head of PNC Public Finance. “We are excited to see the impact that a school like this is going to have for the students and their families, as well as the surrounding communities.”

KIPP Miami Public Schools are part of the nationally recognized “Knowledge Is Power Program” non-profit network of free, college-preparatory, public charter schools educating elementary, middle, and high school students. They serve an important mission to provide education for economically disadvantaged communities in the area. Among the KIPP Miami student population, 97% qualifies for free and reduced lunch, which is a common barometer of underserved populations.

Currently, more than 1,200 K-8 students from the greater Miami area are enrolled in two KIPP Miami schools, and the new North Miami campus is only one component in a larger plan for future growth. By the time all additional planned projects are complete, KIPP Miami will educate more than 3,700 K-12 scholars in the Greater Miami area.
